South Cambridgeshire District Council Planning Officials have recommended that the application to change the former Saab Garage site to a supermarket be approved.

Unless we have a say, the Planning Committee might follow the recommendation, so please answer our three question survey.

Letter from the planners

"This application has been recommended for approval, which I appreciate will be disappointing to residents. The main reason for this is that the Highway Authority are no longer objecting, following the inclusion of a ‘ghosted turn’ (an island between the two main lanes of the highway where vehicles can wait to turn into the site) and revisions to the layout of the car park. Due to the size of the unit and the location within the village, we do not feel that local or national planning policy support refusal in terms of impact on vitality and viability of the village."

"The application will be heard at committee on Wednesday 1 April. The Parish Council have 3 minutes to speak so 1 representative can speak for that time on behalf of the PC and the ward Councillor also can speak for 3 minutes. A representative of the objecting members of the public can also speak – one person can speak on behalf of all objectors for 3 minutes. You will need to contact Ian Senior, Democratic Services Officer, via email ian.senior@scambs.gov.uk by the end of next week* to register to speak."
